4 Tips to Look More Confident On Camera

We are living in the age of video…literally we are living in a time where most of us have to get in front of a camera to do our jobs. While i LOVE working on camera, I know it isn’t everyone’s jam. A lot of women I work with really struggle with feeling confident on camera which often times can translate into how they show up when they are on camera.

Whether you are attending a meeting on a zoom call or creating content to promote your business, these 4 tips will help you look more confident instantly.

1. TALK QUICKLY

Ok I don’t mean talk so fast that no one can understand you. I mean speak at a pace that moves things along so you aren’t dragging anything out. When you speak quickly and proficiently, you automatically come across as someone who knows exactly what they are talking about. This in turn makes you appear very confident!

2. LEAN IN TOWARDS THE CAMERA

Next time you are speaking on camera lean in slightly toward the lens. This translates as someone who isn’t afraid to share who they are with the viewers. It also creates a welcoming environment for your viewer, like you are inviting them in to your super secret party. Who doesn’t want to be invited to that?!

3. FILL THE SCREEN WITH YOUR FACE

Let me preface this one by saying DO NOT fill your screen with your face if you are on a zoom call 😂 . I don’t think it will go over well with the rest of your team. If you are working on camera for a virtual meeting, this means make sure your face can be seen. Sit close enough where your face is the focus of your screen.

When you are creating video content for social….you can get up close and personal! This is an instant where filling your screen with your face is 100% acceptable. Get in there girl! This creates intimacy with your viewers.

4. LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA LENS

This one might sound like a no brainer, but you would be so surprised at how many people look every which way BUT the camera lens. Looking directly into the camera lens creates connection and comes across to the viewer like you are speaking directly to them. It’s magic really! A tool that lets you speak directly to thousands of people at the same time. That direct eye contact is crucial when you are trying to create the know like and trust with your viewers. Additionally when you look a person in the eye, you communicate confidence and your ultimate belief in what you are saying.
